How to Use the KDS

This guide will help you download, set up, and use the NOQ KDS (Kitchen Display System) app for managing orders, stock, and settings.

Step 1: Downloading the NOQ KDS App

  1. Go to the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) on your device.
  2. Search for NOQ KDS and download the application.
  3. Open the app and log in with your NOQ Store credentials.

Step 2: Navigating the KDS Menu

Once logged in, tap the Three Lines menu icon in the top left to access the main sections:

  • Dashboard: Displays all active tickets.
  • Past Orders: Shows previously completed orders.
  • Stock Management: Manage product availability.
  • Settings: Customize app preferences.
  • Logout: Log out from the KDS app.

Step 3: Using the Dashboard

  1. Tap Dashboard to access the main order screen.

    Sections within Dashboard:

    • Open: Newly received orders.
    • Past Tickets: Completed orders.
    • Ready: Orders ready for collection
    • All Sections: View all assigned KDS screens or filter by specific KDS screens.
  2. To Manage Pre-Orders:

    • Click the filter in Pre-order column to view all orders or select a date.

    • In Open, select an order and tap Ready to Collect to move it to the Ready section.
    • In Ready, tap Complete once an order is ready to be marked as done. This moves it to Past.
      • Once set to Complete, customer will be sent a notification.
    • In Past, you can:
      • Tap Reopen to move the ticket back to Open.
      • Tap Print to re-print the ticket.
      • Tap the i icon to view additional customer information.
  3. To Manage Live Orders:
    • In Open, select an order and tap Complete to move it to the Past section.
    • In Past, you can:
      • Tap Reopen to move the ticket back to Open.
      • Tap Print to re-print the ticket.
      • Tap the i icon to view additional customer information.
  4. Filters and Item Summary:
    • Tap Filters & Items Summary for an overview of all tickets sent to the KDS.
    • Filter by order type, hide prepared items, or view item/category counts to manage the screen views.

Step 4: Viewing Past Orders

  1. Tap Past Orders.
  2. Tap Date and select a historic date, then tap Ok.
  3. All completed orders from the selected date will display, showing:
    • ID, Order Type, Customer Name, Contact Number, and Items Ordered.
  4. Tap the i icon to view further order details or to re-print the ticket.

Step 5: Managing Stock Availability

  1. Tap Stock Management.
  2. Select either Items or Modifiers.
  3. Use the toggle switches to manage availability:
    • Toggle Off to remove an item from online and till availability.
    • Toggle On to make an item available for online ordering and tills.

Step 6: Adjusting Settings

  1. Tap Settings to customize your KDS preferences.

    Key Settings:

    • Layout: If using online ordering, set to 3 States to ensure these orders display.
      • 3 States is used for Pre-Orders, which displays Pre-Orders in their own column.
    • Ticket Layout: Choose between Full Ticket or 8x Layout.
    • Time Live Order: Visual indicator for live orders.
    • Colours: Assign colours to differentiate order types visually.
    • New Ticket Alert: Enable audio alerts for new tickets.
    • Printers: Connect a printer for ticket printing.
    • Time Pre-orders: Visual indicator specifically for pre-orders.
  2. Any changes made are automatically saved. Tap the Three Lines menu and select Dashboard to return to the main screen.
