Creating Modifiers
Modifiers are a great way of allowing your customers to customise their order. You can think of Modifiers like extra pizza toppings or mixers for your drinks. This guide will walk you through the process of creating modifiers to use with your items.
Step 1: Navigate to the Modifier Creation Page
The path will differ depending on whether Stock Locations are enabled:
-
If Stock Locations are enabled:
NOQ Backend Portal ➡️ Products ➡️ Stock Locations ➡️ Your Stock Location ➡️ Modifier List tab ➡️ Click + Create Modifier -
If Stock Locations are disabled:
NOQ Backend Portal ➡️ Products ➡️ Item List ➡️ Modifier List tab ➡️ Click + Create Modifier
Step 2: Complete the Create Modifier Form
Fill in the following details:
-
Create Modifier From:
- Item: Select this if you’re using an existing item as a modifier (e.g., a can of Coke that’s both a standalone item and a mixer for spirits).
- Custom: Choose this to create a new modifier that isn’t based on an existing item.
-
Modifier Backend Name:
- This is an internal name for staff use only.
- For clarity, use descriptive labels like "Coke – Mixer" to distinguish it in your Modifier List.
-
Modifier Display Name:
- This is the customer-facing name, so ensure it's clear and easily recognizable.
-
Selling Price:
- Set the price if you wish to charge customers for adding this modifier.
Step 3: Save Your Modifier
Once all details are complete, click Save Modifier.
Your new Modifier will now appear in the Modifier List. Follow this procedure for each necessary modifier you require for your items.
Next Step
Now we can move on to creating Modifier Groups, which we'll use to group up relevant modifiers so they can be added to your items.
